German earthquake catalogue 1968 - yesterday

The registrations by the GRSN seismometer stations, and the GERES and GRF arrays, are continuously evaluated and archived by BGR. The catalogue records all earthquakes in Germany above a magnitude of 2.0. The results are stored in a database and supplemented by the earthquake parameters determined by other seismological institutions in Germany (seismological observatories, geophysical institutes in German universities, and the state geological surveys). The German earthquake catalogue is prepared on the basis of this comprehensive database.

EISY (Earthquake Informations-SYstem)

The following input mask can be used to select seismic events in Germany from the seismological database on the basis of different criteria (time, region, magnitude).

The following maximum limits apply here:

  • Time: from 1968 01 01 to yesterday
  • Region: between 47.0 and 55.0 degrees north latitude, between 5.0 and 15.0 degrees longitude east
  • Magnitude: from 2.5

We recommend restricting the selection criteria to avoid the production of a very long list. The geographical locations of all of the selected events are also shown on a map..
