GK1000Geological Map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1:1,000,000

The digital Geological Map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1:1,000,000 (GK1000) represents the surface geology of Germany and adjacent areas. The GK1000 provides information on the age, composition and formation of rocks on the basis of 228 geological units. It also includes tectonic line elements and marginal positions of the ice shield.
The GK1000 is available to the public via the BGR Geoportal as a Web Map Service (WMS) and for download as a shapefile. In addition, it is accesssible in the Geoviewer of the BGR Geoportal.

The GK1000 is also available in an INSPIRE-compliant version and accessible via the BGR geoportal as a Web Map Service (WMS) and as GML-files. They are also visualised in the Geoviewer of the BGR Geoportal. According to the INSPIRE requirements, the GML files are also provided as download via an Atom feed.

Up to now, the GK1000 was derived "manually" from the GÜK200 or GÜK250 (General Geological Map of the Federal Republic of Germany 1: 250,000). Currently, within the framework of the AGNES project, a FME-based generalisation procedure of the State Office for Geology, Raw Materials and Mining in Baden-Württemberg (LGRB) is being further developed or adapted. So in the future, a largely automated derivation of the GK1000 (Inselkarte) from the GÜK250 will be possible.
