The BGR keeps geoscientific Collections with locations in Berlin and Hannover, the latter in cooperation with Lower Saxony’s State Authority for Mining, Energy and Geology Landesamt für Bergbau, Energie und Geologie (LBEG) in the buildings of the GEOZENTRUM HANNOVER. They belong to the major geoscientific collections in Germany.

What was initially the Collection Object of the Month, became the Quaterly Collection Object when after four years 48 collection objects were completed.
